William J. Alms, MD, Ph.D
Dr. Alms is a board certified dermatologist who graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Maryland where he earned his B.A .and M.D. degrees along with a Ph.D. in Immunology and Microbiology. Dr. Alms continued his education by doing an internship in Internal Medicine through the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver, CO. His dermatology residency was done at the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Alms has received multiple awards and honors during his educational studies and has had numerous articles published during his career. For a several years including 2012, Dr. Alms has been recognized as a Washingtonian Magazine “Top Doctor”.
Dr. Alms performs surgery for all types of skin cancers in addition to cosmetic procedures including Botox injections, light chemical peels, fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm as well as treatmeant of blood vessel malformations commonly known as sclerotherapy.. Dr. Alms has practiced with the Dermatology Associates of McLean since 2001.
Nina M. Fisher, MD
Dr. Nina Fisher is a board certified dermatologist who graduated Magna cum Laude from Yale College and Yale Medical School. She trained at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and Yale-New Haven Hospital where she was Chief Resident in Dermatology.
Dr. Fisher is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and past president of the Washington D.C. Dermatological Society (2009—2010) and has published articles in the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Fisher’s areas of expertise include state of the art cosmetic anti-aging treatments such as fillers and injections, treatment of adult and teenage acne, medical dermatologic conditions including skin cancer screening diagnosis and management. In addition, patients are seen in a timely manner, with emphasis on the quality of care. Dr. Fisher has practiced with Dermatology Associates of McLean since 2002.
Sunny S. Walia, MD
Dr. Sunny Walia, is a board certified dermatologist with more than 10 years of professional experience, she earned her medical degree Summa cum Laude from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, completed her dermatology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and also completed a prestigious laser and cosmetic fellowship with the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery.
She is an internationally respected lecturer on skin laser surgery with publications in a variety of medical journals including Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Walia is a Washingtonian Magazine “Top Doctor”, a Northern Virginia Magazine Top Doctor, and is listed among the Best Doctors in America and America’s Top Dermatologists by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. She is an accredited member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Although Dr. Walia enjoys general medical dermatology such as adult and teenage acne, pigmentation disorders (melasma), and skin cancer screenings, her special interests include dermatological laser procedures for the treatment of acne and acne scars, vascular and pigmented birthmarks, rosacea, spider veins, photodamaged and aging skin (wrinkles, solar lentigines/sunspots).
Choosing Dermatology as her specialty was a very personal decision for Dr. Walia. She clearly remembers growing up with bad skin and has an acute awareness and understanding regarding patients’ individual needs. Prior to joining Dermatology Associates of McLean in 2010, Dr. Walia was an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Director of Dermatologic Laser Surgery at the George Washington University.
